It's Not About Networking. It's About Who's at Your Table.

Why meaningful connections matter more than the size of your network.

We've all heard the advice: Build your network. Expand your circle. Meet more people. But I've come to believe that the real power of networking isn't found in how many people we know. It's found in the relationships we intentionally build.

It's not about adding more people to your network. It's about connecting with the right people.

The Power of the Right People

With a background in psychology and more than 25 years working in HR, talent management, and organizational effectiveness, I've spent much of my career observing how people interact, collaborate, and grow.

One thing I've learned is that our relationships and environments influence our growth.

The right people can challenge our thinking, introduce new perspectives, encourage us to pursue opportunities, and help us recognize possibilities we hadn't considered.

And the right people aren't necessarily those who think like us. Look like us. Speak like us.

Personally, my greatest growth has come from connecting with people whose experiences and perspectives were different from my own.

Beyond the Introduction

Traditional networking often focuses on introductions, elevator pitches, and exchanging contact information. But in my experience, meaningful connections require something more.

Having studied personalities and group dynamics, I recognize that people connect differently. Some thrive in large gatherings, while others (like me) find greater value in smaller, more intentional conversations.

Who's at Your Table?

I created Who's at Your Table?, a curated networking experience, to move beyond traditional networking and create an intentional space where women could connect through meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.

I've learned that growth rarely happens in isolation. The people we surround ourselves with can influence how we think, the opportunities we pursue, and the possibilities we see for ourselves.

So, as you think about your own network, I encourage you to look beyond the number of connections you've made and consider the relationships you're building.

Don't just settle for a seat at any table. Be intentional about who's sitting beside you.
